Non-antibiotic treatment of bovine mastitis using APT| Controlling livestock drinking water with the help of H2Oalert technology

(Monday, January 16, 2023) 13:23

With the development of new technologies, start-ups have emerged in the world's livestock, with the help of some of which ranchers can treat bovine mastitis without antibiotics and produce a healthier product.

As demand from consumers for better animal welfare and improved sustainability in the livestock sector grows, new destructive innovations are emerging to enable farmers to monitor the health of their flocks in real time, prevent outbreaks and optimize nutrition. In other words, although in Iran, ranchers face a variety of challenges and problems, but globally ranchers are looking for technologies and technologies to reduce the time and costs they spend on maintaining their livestock farms.

With these interpretations and according to this report, the Animal AgTech Innovation Summit in March 2022 introduced 16 start-ups with innovative technologies to support the sustainable and efficient livestock industry, with solutions from non-antibiotic treatment for bovine mastitis, phage genetic engineering technology, artificial intelligence, vision, poultry warehouse robotics, and independent livestock monitoring. According to the report, some of the start-ups that came into the spotlight at Animal AgTech are:

Armenta start-up: a way to treat non-antibiotic bovine mastitis

This start-up has actually developed the first non-antibiotic treatment for bovine mastitis using acoustic pulse technology (APT). It is worth noting that mastitis causes annual losses of more than $6 billion in the United States and Europe. However, infected cows treated with APT have shown a 70% recovery rate and a 10% increase in milk production. On the other hand, the implementation ofAPT increases farmer's profitability, improves herd health and cattle welfare.

Reducing costs in livestock with binSentry start-up

The complex is actually an agricultural IoT company that solves a 40-year-old problem in the animal feed industry, namely monitoring the reliable inventory of feed bins on the farm.

In fact, based on what was described at the Animal AgTech Innovation Summit, binSentry's IoT sensor enables feed factories and vertical integrators to make significant cost savings by creating a significant increase in operational efficiency.

CattleEye start-up is an Irish technology that interprets visual images of livestock and provides all the results of the current state of livestock to the rancher

According to the report, other animal husbandry start-ups introduced at the Animal Technology Summit are CattleEye start-ups, which are actually the product of Ireland and have created the world's first independent livestock monitoring platform that improves the lives of farmers and their livestock and transforms the protein supply chain. In other words, its deep learning artificial intelligence platform is designed to interpret visual images of livestock from web cameras and extract valuable results about those cows.

How does pharomatics increase animal welfare and productivity on far

On the other hand, according to this report, the start-ups presented at the summit are the product of Spain and are known as pharomatics. The start-up actually uses robotics, artificial intelligence and big data to increase animal welfare and farm productivity in intensive animal production simultaneously. It should be noted that the flagship product of this complex, ChickenBoy, is the world's first suspended ceiling robot that controls the ambient conditions, health and well-being and performance of broiler equipment.

General Probiotic start-up makes it possible to produce safe food

The U.S.-produced general probiotic start-up produces innovative cells and antimicrobial probiotics that eliminate harmful pathogens in livestock, enable safe food production and reduce current dependence on antibiotics, according to the report. An important feature of this start-up is the precise engineering of advanced probiotics using artificial biology and artificial intelligence.

H2Oalert start-up, technology that controls the quality and quantity of livestock drinking water

According to the report, one of the most interesting start-ups introduced at the summit is the Netherlands called H2Oalert. In fact, the first real-time water control management system for dairy and broiler cows is the first water control system, which means that using this start-up, the quality and quantity of drinking water in livestock is investigated instantaneously and 24 hours a day in terms of pollution and possible disturbances in the water supply. In this way, the H2Oalert system and the data obtained will lead to direct contributions to animal welfare, milk and meat production.

Nextbiotics' first start-up product is a feed additive for animal producers to boost animal nutrition and significantly reduce antibiotic use

On the other hand, according to the report, Hencol start-ups offer the next level of precision ranching with big data and artificial intelligence algorithms that allow their customers to get an optimal decision support system in real time and from wherever you are via a smartphone, tablet or PC. In fact, this acts as a standalone solution and also integrates through the API into other Agri systems or platforms. This enables the digitization of the entire value chain with significant benefits for all actors involved.

Reducing antibiotic use with the help of next antibiotic start-ups

Next antibiotics is another start-up introduced at the Animal AgTech Innovation Summit, which aims to use advanced synthetic biology tools and bacteriophage technology to provide unique solutions to the antibiotic resistance crisis and offer solutions to eliminate pathogenic bacteria. Interestingly, the first product of this start-up is a feed additive for animal producers to strengthen animal nutrition and significantly reduce the consumption of antibiotics.

30% reduction in livestock management time using Roper technology

On the other hand, according to this report, one of the most marginal start-ups raised at the summit is roper start-up, which according to experts has revolutionized the production of beef with a GPS phone label and with solar energy! In fact, Roper's unique technology provides geographic location and health monitoring of cattle in rangeland, enabling producers to reduce management time by 30 percent and maximize fertility and nutrition. It also helps to manage livestock grazing sustainably and identifies sick or anxious cows.
